It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like...

Greenery...

and ribbon...

and things that sparkle...

...CHRISTMAS!!!

Yep, the Christmas spirit has descended on our house and the glitter is in full force!  No, our decorations aren't up and no, I have no plans to listen to Christmas music, but I do have Christmas on the brain and I am working on a few Christmas things.

Remember when I begged YOU to give me a little feedback on that question a few weeks ago,  "What's one area you'd love a little holiday help with??"  Well, because YOU were such excellent sports and because YOU gave me such great answers, I am now in major brainstorming mode.  And for what reason???  Because I am honored to be giving a little decorating demo, at our Church's Women's Christmas Brunch this year, and YOU are exactly the kind of women who will be there :) All ages, all stages, all shapes and sizes.  Older, younger, married, single, moms and sisters, aunts and daughters. Lots of women with lots of different tastes.  Very quickly I found myself wondering how and what to tackle in a 20 min. demo, but that's where YOU came in!

YOU were the inspiration I needed to help me figure out what I could do to help all sorts of women.  So, in honor of YOU, I chose a winner from random.org and Jennifer was the lucky girl :) I promised to shop for a set of ornaments for her tree and after the last few weeks, I finally found some!  At my beloved Target of all places!  I looked and looked for the right thing, at all kinds of specialty stores, and couldn't find the right thing...until, I spotted these:

Jennifer has a beautiful tree, with lots of ornaments and no dominant color scheme.  One of my tips for pulling a tree together, is to in fact choose a dominant color (or colors) and add large ornaments in that scheme.  You can still add lots of other ornaments, but your dominant ornaments will give the tree some unifying elements to pull it all together.  For example, here is a picture of our tree last year...

We have lots of random ornaments, but red is obviously my dominant color.  This year, I plan to double the amount of red and add larger balls too.  But we'll get to my tree later :)

In Jennifer's case, she shared with me that she wanted to change up her mantle a little bit, maybe find some stockings or something that were a little more "funky."  So, I looked for some red and green ornaments that were more contemporary.  Her color scheme was very similar to mine, so I knew those colors would work.  When I found the striped ornaments, I just added some plain glass ornaments in the same colors to cover a little more tree...or mantle??  They could work either place :)  Hope you like them Jennifer!  I'll be sending them your way this week.

Now, as for YOU, I received far too many good comments to simply ignore them.  Lots of YOU mentioned wanting help with your mantles, with wreaths, with centerpieces, and with trees.  So, I thought it would be fun if I could do a little series with YOU over the coming weeks.  Some how-to posts, with pictures and far too many descriptive details!  What do YOU think?  Interested?  I'm sure there will be a few give-aways thrown in there too, so many sure YOU stick around!  I'm still working out the days and order of tutorials, but hopefully I'll be able to post a schedule soon!

Thank YOU for your help!  I appreciate it and look forward to tackling some of your questions.  But you'll have to excuse me now, I have some ornaments to pack up and send!
And maybe some Christmas music to listen to :)

Glory in the Highest, Chris Tomlin's Christmas CD! SO GREAT! Yes, I have already started listening to Christmas music.
I may just have to add a color scheme to my tree this year! First ever in almost 18 years of marriage! Thanks Steph.

Oh, and I showed my son (who is almost 11) your blog and he immediately went "Awwwwwww" as he saw Ava. I think he was truly smitten with your little gal, it was too cute. Have a blessed day! :O)
