Carter's Baby Dedication

Today was a special day in our family because today, we stood before our Church for Carter's Baby Dedication.  We believe that Carter's salvation and baptism are choices that he will make one day, when he's old enough to understand and place his faith in Jesus for himself, and not choices that we can make for him.  His baby dedication is basically a charge to us, as his parents, to raise him in a Gospel-centered home and to point him to Jesus in all that we do.  We stand before our Church to commit to that Biblical mandate and to ask our fellow believers to pray for us, to support us and to hold us accountable.  It's a sweet time for us to present our son to our congregation and to dedicate his life as we seek to raise him in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
One of the passages we chose to pray over Carter's life before he was born, was from 2 Timothy 3:14-15.  It hangs on a sign in his nursery and it's one that is very fitting for what we did today.

"But as for you (Carter), continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus."
With Daddy, whom Carter Travis is named after.
My handsome guys.
Two years ago we made the same public commitment, dedicating Ava before our Church family.  What a blessing to be here again, this time with a precious son.
My parents were able to come for Carter's big morning!

And Ava was just as thrilled as Carter!
Proud Grandparents...
Thanks for coming to support all of us today!
What a sweet day for Mommy and Daddy, Carter.  We are so thankful for you, so grateful that the Lord would choose us to be your parents.  We are full of joy and love for you son, and we promise to do our very best to point you to Jesus as we raise you.  We know the Lord has wonderful plans, already laid out for you, before the foundations of the world were even laid.  We are so thrilled to watch you grow and develop and mature into the man He created YOU to be.
You are so loved Carter Travis!

My Mom graciously captured most of the morning on video for us, so that all of our family who couldn't be here can still see and hear what we did this morning.  There are 3 short clips here, I loved what our Pastor charged us with and prayed over all of the parents and babies who participated today.  What a job it is to be a parent!  We are so grateful the Creator of the Universe did not leave us empty handed!  He gave us the best parenting manual, full of wisdom and truth as we seek His way of training and loving our babies.  He is so faithful in every area of our lives.

Enjoy!

Congratulations to you all!! He looked so handsome in his cute little sweater...what a joyous day. I loved what your pastor said when he prayed for the parents to have a strong marriage...I loved that, especially as we celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary today, I am proud to say we have a strong marriage, I am so grateful and so blessed for that. Have a great rest of your weekend with your sweet kids!

It was such an honor to see Carter being dedicated yesterday morning. And I thought that was the most meaningful, heartfelt dedication Grace has done...I appreciated Pastor Troy's brief "message". While you probably couldn't see us, Brian and I were behind you guys with our hand raised to you in the prayer huddle. Wanted you to know we were there for you like you were there for us. Love you guys!
