Out of Control

Today I feel like my world is out of control. I mean seriously OUT OF CONTROL.
"Why?" you might ask?? Well, for starters...

-The laundry pile (clean laundry pile) is so big, it now appears that we have gained a piece of furniture in our bedroom.

-There are bills and pieces of mail as far as the eye can see. I think I have a dining room table, but I'm not sure. At the moment, I can't see it.

-Everywhere I look, I see pink. Toys, blankets and little iity bitty clothes have taken over our house. Soft pink, hot pink, lipstick pink, pepto pink...you name it, you can see it!!

-My refrigerator is so full of random food, it looks like someone had a party in there and forgot to clean up.

-Every pair of shoes that we own is currently piled up in our living room or our closet. None are neatly put away, they sort of just resemble a mountain of laces and soles with no apparent "match" in sight. We just may have to "move mountains" to make a difference here.
-In the last 3 weeks, I have started 2 major closet clean-outs and finished none. The closets in Ava's room and our room appear to have vomited. If hindsight is 20/20, organizing closets was not a good decision.

-The sink is surprisingly clean and the dishwasher empty, but the floor is a mosaic of all we've recently eaten and I'm sure I spotted some clumps of dog hair clinging to the baseboards. Awesome.

If that does not give you a clear picture of how busy we have been in the last few weeks, I'm not sure what else to confess. We DESPERATELY need some time to be home and be still. Well, not still as in "sit on the couch and do nothing" but still as in "don't leave the house until we're sure we can see the original surfaces again!!" That kind of still. The only problem is that we have something going on everyday this week. Oh and have I mentioned that we have a baby? So yeah, you can imagine how well I'm going to do at getting our world put back together again. Speaking of our world, have you ever heard the comparison between your purse and your world? It goes something like "the state your purse is currently in, is often reflective of the state your life is currently in. I'm not sure what this means for me, but today I got so fed up with my current purse that I switched to a brand new one and just started all over again. Hmm...Do you think that's possible to do with my home, our schedule and this mess??

Oh well, I know it will get done one day. Welcome to life as a Mommy, right?? The good news is that I do have some fun pictures to share with you from this past weekend, but until I can gain just a little more "control" over my world and my home, they will have to wait. We took a fun little road trip yesterday that I can't wait to tell you about and of course I've got some Ava stories for you, but until then, I'm looking for a little support here...

Tell me, what is one thing in your life that feels out of control?? I know I'm not the only one with "issues!" Who else needs a little order in their world?? Can't wait to hear from you!

Every single item you just listed is how our house looks. Not everyday, but it definitely happens often. Sometimes you feel like you can't stay on top of the laundry and everything else!

You're not the only one, and I'm glad I'm not the only one, either! I often wonder, are other people's floors like this, or do other people not have clean clothes by the end of the week! It's just part of it!

I can relate to that post on so many levels!! I'm just glad that I'm not the only one :-).

You know what I would love to have control over??? The selling of our house. If I could I would go pick out a sweet little family and say, "Buy our house!" And then that would be it. All done! If only . . . .

Work. New school building, new technology, old teachers. Need I say more? If I hear, Mrs. Storm, do you have a minute to help me with X? I can't seem to find it on the computer! Blah!

My post-it notes are out of control. Every time I think of something we need at the store, or something I need to do, I write it on a post it note. The post it notes are now everywhere around our house and just keep piling up! I can never seen to get caught up.
Grrrrr...it's so frustrating at times!

My house is much like yours at the moment except without the very legitimate excuse of a baby.

We moved into our house in mid July and have been home only two weekends. We are so excited that for the next two weekends we have absolutely no where to go! I am so looking forward to getting some of our to do list knocked out.

We've had alot of fun with our travels but the paperwork and the closets...my oh my! I called a closet organizer yesterday and she's coming next week. Part of the problem in my new house is there are not good systems in place in the master bedroom closets and a huge closet in my office. I'm hoping they can help and it won't cost a million dollars. We'll see.

Good luck with your jobs...give yourself a break though..you do have a baby and babies don't wait!

I also think my dining room table has been eaten by bills, and piles, and baby stuff, and my stuff, and my husband's stuff ... it just does not exist anymore, I am sure of it.

I cannot remember the last time I cleaned my whole house. I mean like my whole house, all at once. Instead of the desperate spot cleaning I do when I just cannot look at that dirty mess one more second, so the bathroom (1 of 3) gets cleaned that day.

I am a teacher, it's the second week of school, I have an 18 month old, and a husband taking college classes while working full-time. Somehow I don't think it's going to get better any time soon. :)

This is awful...but my emotions are out of control. I am so weary of these postpartum fluctuations!! It just makes ALL of life feel unsettled in a weird way.

Oh well...this too shall pass.

Goodness...my house is SO not clean! I've neglected it for far too long and I'm really, really hoping to make a dent in it this weekend for sure! Having enough time to tackle my side business is another challenge....oh, and I'm also in the process of finishing our vacation pictures in a book on Snapfish...I NEED MORE TIME...MORE hours in a day would be really, really helpful!! AAACCKK! You are so not alone chicka!

Maybe we should swap kids for a bit so we can take some time to clean our houses. Problem is, I'd probably just sleep. Here's a pic of my laundry pile when Kaelem was Ava's age. It still looks like this today unfortunately. http://jedhome.net/2007/12/20/my-yikes-list/

I have been a lurker for a while now. Somehow I stumbled upon your blog, as we were due with our baby girls around the same time (mine sweetheart came 3 weeks early though!) I had to come out of lurkerdom after this post - are you sure we do not live in the same house?! With 3 kiddos ( 5 years old and under), 2 dogs, and a pilot for a husband, my house is a disaster lately!
Of course, this is a huge problem for a type A personality like me, but I am rolling with it.
Oh, and throw in the fact that I have to clean, as we are having our little ones baptism this weekend...oh, please send the cleaning fairy!

I think you just described my house! Our living room has become overrun with baby stuff - I just feel bad for our dogs because they are running out of places to lay! Being back at school is totally out of control for me, and it is a big reason why my floors have dog hair all over them and I also have piles of dirty baby clothes, diapers, junk mail, pop cans, etc. EVERYWHERE! :)
